Many people worry or shy away from the word Root Canal therapy, and although they are often caused by tooth decay or severe trauma. A root canal can be the saving grace for relieving a patient of pain and saving the vitality, longevity or lifespan of a tooth.  When the nerve of a tooth becomes irritated it will become inflamed and send off signals to a patient letting them know something may be wrong.

Significant discomfort when a tooth is exposed to hot and cold temperatures even after the sources has been removed or excessive pain when pressure is placed upon a tooth while chewing or brushing your teeth.   This may be a key indicator that a tooth is dead or dying and root canal therapy may be indicated.  There are times when a patient may be unaware or not notice any symptoms until the damage is too severe to treat with a filling or restoration.  This is why Dr.Mostafa Aboulkhair recommends routine radiographs with your routine examinations/check-ups two times per year.

If Dr.Mostafa Aboulkhair determines that root canal therapy is necessary, you will be made comfortable with plenty of anesthesia and sedation dentistry is always an option to help relax you during the procedure. With advances in technology, a root canal is quick and painless. The tooth is opened and the nerve chamber is cleaned, removing disease or bacteria from the nerve space within the root, and then sealed off to reduce the risk of any further infection and then often times restored fully with a crown to secure the integrity and vitality of the tooth.
